31st October, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is celebrated as “National Unity Day” in India.
Like every year, this year also Vatsalya decided to celebrate this day with great enthusiasm. Vatsalya planned to organize “Cyclothon – 2021” to commemorate this auspicious day as a tribute to the one who integrated the nation and is now renownedly known as “The Iron man of India”.
This day we planned ato& fro cycle rally from Borsad to Karamsad (Birth place of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel). More than 80 students along with our alumni took part in this rally. Early morning at 5:45 am, Shri Balswarupdasji (Chairman), Principal sir, Rahul sir, Mr. Ishwarbhai (President, Lions Club, Borsad) and Mrs. Aarti Patel (President, Nagar Palika, Borsad) offered a garland to the statue of Vallabhbhai Patel at Borsad. These dignitaries initiated the cycle rally at 6 am at Anand Chowkadi. We reached Karamsad at 7:30 am. There, we offered a garland to the statue of Vallabhbhai Patel along with the Members of Lions Club, Karamsad. Children were very excited and repeating slogans throughout the journey. Then we visited Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth place at Karamsad. There we met with close blood relatives of Vallabhbhai Patel. They shared some of the incidences of freedom struggle with the students. Vatsalya honoured them with mementos for their contribution to our nation. They were quite overwhelmed and thrilled to see the students. Later the students visited his residence which is now turned into a museum. Then students were served with breakfast, after which we all returned back to Borsad.
It was indeed a memorable experience for our students. They grabbed the first-hand experience of taking a glimpse into Vallabhbhai Patel’s personal life and learnt in detail about the various traits he walked to bring the country together. Youngers’ minds could definitely imbibe the values of solidarity and farsightedness which were deep ingrained in his personality.
Mr. Urmil Patel
